What’s Leo?

Young. Bold. Impactful. That’s LEO

What is LEO?

Leadership. Experience. Opportunity.

The word LEO isn’t just an acronym — it’s a movement. A global network of young individuals committed to service, leadership, and community-building. But what truly makes the Leo movement extraordinary is the energy, passion, and potential of its members who lead with purpose and impact.

The Leo Club Program – A Legacy of Service

The Leo Club Program is a youth initiative of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organization. Founded in 1957, the Leo Club Program was created to provide young people with opportunities for personal development through volunteering. Today, Leos operate in over 140 countries, contributing to thousands of causes that impact real lives.

The Meaning Behind LEO

LEO stands for:

  • Leadership: Developing essential skills to lead projects, inspire teams, and drive social change.
  • Experience: Gaining real-world exposure to problem-solving, event management, and team collaboration.
  • Opportunity: Exploring new cultures, meeting changemakers, and building a network that lasts a lifetime.

 Who Can Become a Leo?

Leo Clubs are open to youth and young adults typically between the ages of 12 to 30 (depending on the type of club and country-specific regulations). Leos are students, professionals, dreamers, doers – individuals who believe in creating a better tomorrow.

There are two types of Leo Clubs:

  • Alpha Leo Clubs (12–18 years) – focused on school-level leadership and early service experiences.
  • Omega Leo Clubs (18–30 years) – focused on deeper community impact, professional development, and global engagement.

What Do Leos Do?

Leos actively engage in:

  • Community service projects
  • Fundraising for social causes
  • Leadership workshops and seminars
  • Fellowship events and youth summits
  • Collaborations with Lions for large-scale impact

From organizing beach clean-ups to initiating mental health campaigns, every activity is driven by a spirit of service and innovation.

Why Be a Leo?

Being a Leo means being part of a global family. You get to:

  • Build a strong leadership profile
  • Gain recognition for your service
  • Make lifelong friends and mentors
  • Participate in national and international conventions
  • Contribute to causes that matter
